FARMVILLE, Va. - Randolph-Macon men's swimming defeated its rival in the Hampden-Sydney Tigers on Friday night, taking the top spot in nine different events and finishing with a dominant 146-58 victory.
Individual Winners
- Caleb Thomas (Moseley, Va./Cosby) finished with the top spot in the 200 meter freestyle with a clocked time of 2:02.27. The junior added another victory in the 100 meter freestyle with a time of 55.34 seconds.
- Elliott Kassab (Richmond, Va./New Community School) dominated in the 100 meter IM, defeating the Hampden-Sydney swimmer by almost three seconds, clocking in a time of 1:03.40. The sophomore took home his second victory of the night in the 50 meter breaststroke with a time of 31.52 seconds.
- Sebastian Florez (Richmond, Va./JR Tucker) started the meet with a win in the 800 meter freestyle in 9:42.95.
- Ben Pastva (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) took home the victory in the 50 meter freestyle in 24.57 seconds.
- Aidan Campbell (Newport News, Va./Warwick) was victorious in the 50 meter backstroke in 29.47 seconds.
Relay Winners
- The 200 meter medley relay team of Pastva, Alex Fortiz (Stafford, Va./North Stafford), Alex Richardson (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach) and James Skarbek (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) finished on-top with an overall time of 1:53.75.
- The 200 meter freestyle relay team of Pastva, Ryan Cherry (Carrollton, Va./Hampton Roads Academy), Casey Dingman (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) and Skarbek won in 1:42.82.
Individual Highlights
- Richardson was the runner-up in the 200 meter freestyle with a clocked time of 2:03.10. The junior was also the second finisher in the 50 meter butterfly in 27.49 seconds.
- Nate Tambourine (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) finished second in the 800 meter freestyle in 9:52.62.
- Jacob Batson (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) had a quality performance in the 400 meter freestyle and placed second with a time of 4:42.37.
- Fortiz would also have the second place spot in the 50 meter breaststroke in 32.27 seconds.
