Women's Volleyball Falls in ODAC Quarterfinal

BRIDGEWATER, Va.  Randolph-Macon Women's Volleyball fell in three sets to third-seeded Bridgewater on Tuesday night in the ODAC Tournament Quarterfinal.
Score: Bridgewater 3, Randolph-Macon 0 (25-20, 25-7, 25-22)
Venue:  Nininger Hall/Bridgewater Eagles
Records: Randolph-Macon (12-15), Bridgewater (20-6)
How it Happened:
  • RMC got the scoring started in the first set but were answered by the Eagles winning five of the next six points to take the lead. BC maintained their lead out to 13-10 before a 3-0 run by RMC knotted the score at 13. The Yellow Jackets finally regained the lead at 15-14 and extended it out to 18-16 but were only able to win two more points down the stretch as BC grabbed nine of the final 11 points to win set one, 25-20.
  • Bridgewater took control of the second set in a major way, going on an impressive 12-0 run to begin the frame. RMC broke the run with two straight points, but the Eagles lead ballooned out to 16-2 and then 20-3. BC closed out the second set in dominant fashion, winning 20-7.
  • The script flipped to begin the third set, as RMC jumped out to a 9-2 lead. BC stormed back to tie the score at 10 and then take the lead 13-11. RMC won three straight points to regain the lead before it flipped back in Bridgewater's favor. BC led 21-19 but RMC wouldn't go away, tying the score at 21, but the Eagles closed out the sweep by winning four of the final five points to win 25-22.
Inside the Numbers:
  • Trinity Makley (Morrisville, N.C./Panther Creek) finished with 15 assists with two service aces.
  • Lola Nolasco (Georgetown, Tx./Gateway College Prep) totaled six kills along with a block assist.
  • Kylie Wilhelmi (Cherry Valley, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) led the way with eight kills and 13 digs.
  • Maddy DeCandido (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) tallied 11 digs and two service aces.
