ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Randolph-Macon women's swimming team won ten total events in an impressive 188-73 victory to St. Mary's (Md.) to gain their first win of the 2024-2025 season.   

Individual Winners

• Reese Painter (Houston, Tex./Duchesne Academy of Sacred Heart) won the 200 yard freestyle in 2:01.26. The time is the third fastest time in the entire Old Dominion Athletic Conference in the event. The freshman won the 200 yard backstroke in 2:14.80, which now marks as the sixth best time in the ODAC. Painter finished with a victory in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.18 seconds. 
• Sophia Hanson (Hamilton, Va./Woodgrove) took home the top spot in the 200 yard breaststroke by an entire three seconds with her time of 2:34.29. The time is now the sixth fastest time in the conference this season. The senior also won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:11.19.  
• Kierra Parsons (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) earned the top spot in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:11.47. 
• Caroline Russell (Lynchburg, Va./EC Glass) won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:44.58. 
• Anna Sprott (Hampton, Va./Peninsula Catholic) completed the 200 yard IM in 2:24.56 to win the event. 

Relay Winners

• The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Cayden Fix (Barboursville, Va./William Monroe), Painter, Kelsey James (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) and Sophie Sullivan (Richmond, Va./St. Catherine's) won the event in 1:41.75. 
• The 200 medley relay team of James, Hanson, Sullivan and Fix won the event with a time of 1:55.31. 

Individual Highlights

• James finished second in the 200 yard backstroke in 2:14.81, only .01 seconds behind her teammate Painter. The time is the seventh fastest time in the conference this season. The junior also placed second in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:03.37 overall.
• Sprott was the second finisher in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke with an overall time of 1:12.17 and 2:37.33. 
• Sullivan placed second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 56.76 seconds. The freshman also finished second in the 100 yard butterfly with a clocked time of 1:02.80. 
• Russell finished the 200 yard butterfly in 2:26.71 for the second spot in the event. The junior also placed second in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:27.06. 
• Hannah Loyd (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) placed runner-up in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:39.16.
• Brooklyn DeCann (Huntersville, N.C./Lincoln Charter) was the runner-up in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:45.18.
