ASHLAND, Va. - The Randolph-Macon men's swimming won six total events in a tough 145-117 loss to Mary Washington in its first home meet of the 2024-2025 season.
Individual Winners
- Elliott Kassab (Richmond, Va./New Community School) finished with the top spot in the 50 yard breaststroke in 27.74 seconds.
- Aidan Campbell (Newport News, Va./Warwick) took home the victory in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 54.70 seconds.
- James Skarbek (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) gave the Yellow Jackets nine points with his win in the 100 yard freestyle, with a time of 50.21 seconds.
- Caleb Thomas (Moseley, Va./Cosby) won the 100 yard backstroke in 55.32 seconds, beating an Eagles swimmer by .10 seconds.
Relay Winners
- The 400 freestyle relay team of Evan Fannin (Hayes, Va./Christchurch), Skarbek, Thomas and Campbell won the event in 3:20.84.
- The 200 medley relay team of Thomas, Kassab, Fannin and Campbell beat the Mary Washington relay team by over a full second, clocking in at 1:38.57.
Individual Highlights
- Noah Rohlfs (Newport News, Va./Menchville) highlighted the team in the 100 yard butterfly with a second place finish at 56.93 seconds.
- Kassab added a second place finish in the 100 yard IM in 57.28 seconds to add four more points to the team overall score.
- Skarbek placed second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.86, giving the Lemon and Black four points.
- Thomas added to his impressive evening with a second place finish in the 50 yard backstroke in 25.47 seconds.
- Fannin and Casey Dingman (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) finished second and third in the 50 yard freestyle with times of 23.09 and 23.69 seconds.
- Parker Anderson (Midlothian, Va./Monacan) had a second place finish in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:13.70.
- Campbell placed third in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 51.22 seconds, grabbing three points.
- Dingman impressed in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.11 seconds to place third overall.
- Fannin swam in the 50 yard butterfly and placed third in 24.50 seconds.
