Bella Bruce (Herndon, Va./Westfield) and
Jane Elkins (Annandale, Va./Bishop Ireton) both recorded double-doubles in route to an overtime win at Hollins on friday night.

How it Happened
- Randolph-Macon jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, as Elkins and Marisa Ziegler (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) each had three points on a run that lasted until the 3:52 mark in the first period. Hollins ended the final four minutes on an 8-2 run that saw Zaria Holden tally four points, including both free-throws to tie up the game at 8-8 to end the first period.
- Hollins took its first lead of the game at the 6:47 mark of the second period on a Sarah Morales pull up jumper for a 14-12 advantage. Soon after grabbing the lead, HU went on an 11-0 run that lasted for over four minutes, Morales went on a tear scoring eight points during the run for a 21-12 lead. The Lemon and Black scored six quick points to pull within three of Hollins at 21-18 with just over a minute remaining in the second period. HU ended the final minute on a 6-1 run that capped off a slow period and first half for the Yellow Jackets, as they took a 27-19 deficit into halftime.
- Randolph-Macon came out firing offensively in the third period, starting with a 10-2 run that lasted until the 5:30 mark of the period. Juliana Park (Fairfax Station, Va./Davidson Day) scored five points, including the three ball to tie up the game 29-29. Bruce had three points and Elkins started the run with two points of her own. RMC was down 33-31 with under a minute left in the period and Bruce knocked down a corner pocket three-pointer to put them in front 34-33. Hollins grabbed the lead back as Cabria Mutz made a lay-up for an HU 35-34 lead heading into the final period.
- The Lemon and Black outscored Hollins 14-13 in the fourth period. Elkins converted a lay-up plus the foul shot to bring RMC back all tied up at 41-41 with 5:41 left. Morales made two free-throws to give HU a 48-45 lead with 1:29 seconds left. Ziegler made a huge three-pointer with 1:14 to tie the game up at 48-48 and thus send the game to overtime.
- Randolph-Macon scored the first eight points of overtime to grab a 56-48 lead with 2:29 left. Bruce led the way with four points, Sam Smith (Chesterfield, Va./St. Gertrudes) and Zeigler each had two points on the run. Randolph-Macon used the opening run of overtime to lead them to a 60-56 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Randolph-Macon shot 35.7% from the floor, as Hollins knocked down 31.3% of their shots.
- HU outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 51-to-43.
- Bruce ended the night with her first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The freshman also dished out four assists and had a block in 40 minutes of gametime. The Virginia native recorded career marks in points (13), rebounds (10) and assists (4).
- Elkins ended the game with 15 points and 15 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. The sophomore also dished out two assists and blocked two shots in 33 minutes.
- Park recorded 11 points and five rebounds to finish the game.
- Ziegler was the final Yellow Jacket to record double digit points with 12 points. The junior also had five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
