ASHLAND, Va. – The flood gates opened for Randolph-Macon in the first half, as it defeated Mary Baldwin. The Yellow Jackets opened with four early goals and exploded for three more in the second half, including three in the first 30 minutes by
Dylan Matheny, for the win.

How it Happened
- The Yellow Jackets struck the back of the net in the third minute, on a rocket of a shot from Matheny at the top of the box to give Randolph-Macon a 1-0 lead.
- In the 18th minute, Grant Counts was fouled in the Fighting Squirrels box, which granted RMC a penalty kick. Matheny took the kick and guided it past the Mary Baldwin net-minder for his second goal in 20 minutes.
- Matheny was not done as in the 28th minute, the senior took a rebound and bicycled the ball into the top right side of the net to record a first half hat-trick.
- The Lemon and Black added another goal right before the halftime break, as Kevin Sprince took the redirected pass from Zach DeShazo and rattled in a goal off the post for RMCs fourth goal of the first half.
- DeShazo padded the Yellow Jacket lead in the 60th minute, as the senior rang it off the post on a cross pass from Zach Richards.
- Fattizzi added a goal on RMCs second penalty kick of the game to increase the Jacket lead to 6-0.
- Nash Holland added his name to the scoring card in the 67th minute, as Jake Hall added his name to the box score for the first time.
Inside the Numbers
- Matheny recorded his first multi-goal game of his career, scoring three times for the Lemon and Black.
- Sprince and Holland both recorded a goal in the match, both goals were the first for each Yellow Jacket in their careers.
- Fattizzi scored his first goal of the season
- DeShazo scored the fifth goal of the game and had an assist.
- Richards and Hall both recorded an assist in the match.
- Zach Fontenot made two saves in the first 45 minutes, while Adam Braithwaite saw no shots in the final 45 minutes.
- The Yellow Jackets outshot Mary Baldwin 24-3. RMC put 15 shots on goal to the Flying Squirrels two.
- RMC had seven corners, compared to MBUs one.
- This is the largest win for Randolph-Macon men's soccer (7-0), since they defeated Regent University 7-0 during the 2021 season.
