ASHLAND, Va. - The Randolph-Macon men's tennis team fell in its opening match of the fall season Wednesday, losing 9-0 to #36 Washington and Lee at Banks Tennis Center in the early afternoon.
Washington and Lee jumped out to the quick 3-0 lead after taking each of the three doubles points.
Max Hammock (Vienna, Va./James Madison) and
Mitchell Herman (Fairfax, Va./Flint Hill) looked strong at No. 2 doubles for Randolph-Macon, but fell 8-3 to Connor Coleman and Sanjheev Rao of Washington and Lee.
Max Doyle (Alexandria, Va./St. John's College (DC)) looked good at No. 3 singles as he forced Coleman to an extra point in the first set, but fell 7-5 and 6-0. The Generals were able to complete the 9-0 sweep as allowed only eight total points in six singles matches.Â
