How it Happened:
- RMC's defense was smothering for the first quarter, not allowing a single point until nearly eight minutes into the game as they opened an 8-0 lead before the WildCats were able to get on the board. Freshman Jane Elkins (Annandale, Va./Bishop Ireton) made a layup as time expired in the first frame to extend the lead to 10 for RMC.
- The Yellow Jackets maintained the lead in the second quarter, as a Cheridan Hatfield (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) jumper made it 25-11, proving to be the largest lead of the half. RMC held onto a 25-14 lead at halftime after a stellar defensive first 20 minutes.
- The offense came out firing to open the second half, as the Lemon and Black pushed the lead out to 23 with four minutes to go in the third quarter.
- Despite a comeback attempt from Randolph, RMC was able to slow the pace to shorten the game, holding onto their double-digit lead for the remainder of the game. RMC held an 18-point lead after freshman Morgan Miller (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) buried a jumper, but Randolph scored the final eight points of the game to bring the final deficit to 10, ending 54-44.
