ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's swimming team topped St. Mary's (Md.) 140-63 on Friday night.
2023 ODAC Rookie of the Year
Caroline Russell (Lynchburg, Va./EC Glass) took a first-place finish in the 200 free with a time of 2:04.19.
Kierra Parsons (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) and Brooklyn Decann (Huntersville, N.C./Lincoln Charter) dominated the 1000 free in the first individual event. Parsons won the event with a time of 11:17.38 and Decann slotted behind, finishing in 11:25.71. Parsons also won the 500 free in 5:32.05.
Similarly,
Kelsey James (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) and Abby Koslowski (Bel Air, Md./Notre Dame Prep) took the top two spots in the 100 back with a 1:02.51 and a 1:04.56.
RMC also grabbed the top three spots in the 100 breast with
Sophia Hanson (Hamilton, Va./Woodgrove) winning with a 1:12.37 finish.
Anna Sprott (Hampton, Va./Peninsula Catholic) finished three seconds behind and
Via Zipp (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen) finished third, three seconds behind Sprott.
Katelyn Vieni (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) won the 200 IM in 2:17.41, with two teammates taking the next two spots in Brooklyn Decann (2:22.78), and
Sarah Wright (Newport News, Va./Woodside) finishing third with a time of 2:32.61.
The Yellow Jackets also won both of the relays, first in the 200 medley, edging the win by 1.5 seconds with a time of 1:54.15. They also won the 200 free with a time of 1:43.75.
RMC is back in action next Saturday for a road meet against Catholic at 1:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
