ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's swimming team fell to Mary Washington in the first home meet of the season on Thursday night, 153-107.
Kierra Parsons (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) began the individual events by capturing first in the 1000 free with a time of 11:16.96.
Sophia Hanson (Hamilton, Va./Woodgrove) took first in the 50 yard breaststroke in 32.87 with her teammate,
Teaghan McNeill slotting just behind with a time of 32.93.
Melina Christou (Smithfield, Va./Menchville) had a superb day, winning two events, first in the 200 fly, where she finished in 2:19.38. She then went on to win the 200 IM in 2:18.17, edging out her teammate
Katelyn Vieni (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) who finished in 2:18.64.
Vieni took a first-place finish in the 200 breast, winning by two full seconds with a time of 2:36.72. Hanson also placed on the podium, grabbing second.
Kelsey James (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) grabbed two second-place finishes, one in the 50 back and another in the 200 back.
RMC will be back in the pool tomorrow for a home meet against St. Mary's College of Maryland at 5:00 p.m.
