Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's basketball team had the second leg of their four-game home stretch on Saturday afternoon against Roanoke College. The Yellow Jackets used a strong defensive performance on their way to a 60-53 ODAC win.

How it Happened:
- The Yellow Jackets opened the game scoring well from the field, before the media timeout in the first quarter, opening up a 10-2 lead over the Maroons five minutes in. The Roanoke defense held R-MC in check the rest of the quarter, however, as R-MC held a 12-8 lead after one.
- Much more offense ensued in the second quarter, as Julianna Park (Fairfax Station, Va./Davidson Day) hit two triples to add to her one from the first frame. Catherine Kagey (Roanoke, Va./Faith Christian) picked up eight points and three assists in the second period alone to help R-MC to a 29-22 halftime lead.
- The third quarter was dominated by Kagey, posting nine points and two blocks. Both teams shot well from the field, as RC was over 50% in the frame and R-MC over 45%, but the Yellow Jackets held on to a 53-41 lead with ten minutes to go.
- A comeback effort by Roanoke was stifled by a triple by Cheridan Hatfield (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) and the R-MC defense held the Maroons to 25% shooting in the quarter. Four free throws in the final minute by Kagey helped seal it for the Yellow Jackets as they took home the win 60-53.
By the Numbers:
- The R-MC defense came up big over the course of 40 minutes, holding Roanoke to 32% shooting from the field. They added six blocks and forced 18 turnovers.
- Catherine Kagey kept up her incredible stretch of games with a dominant performance today. She amassed 27 points, six rebounds, six assists, and four blocks to lead the Yellow Jackets. It marks her fourth 20-point game this year and her third in the last four contests.
- Cheridan Hatfield shared the ball around with seven assists to couple with her eight points and three rebounds.
- Devin Conrad (Parkville, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) was the only other Yellow Jacket in double figures as she picked up 10 points including two threes.
- Julianna Park added nine points on three triples as well as four rebounds.
- Paige Anderson (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) was a force on the inside, grabbing nine rebounds and two blocks to help the defensive efforts.
