VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Randolph-Macon men's swimming team hit the road for their season finale, playing visitor to Virginia Wesleyan. The Yellow Jackets dominated their way to a 181-36 victory heading into ODACs.
It was a truly all-around performance for RMC, posting 10 individual wins, eight silvers, and nine bronzes on the day. Led by Ben Pastva (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) and Alex Richardson (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach) with two individual event wins each.
Pastva finished first in the 100 free narrowly winning with a time of 49.38, beating out teammate Matthew Appleton (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponox) who swam a personal best 50.65 time in the event. Pastva went on to win the 100 back as well, posting a season best time of 55.82. Appleton also finished second in the 200 free, finishing in 1:53.31.
Alex Richardson took home a first-place finish in the 200 free with a personal best 1:51.35 finish and followed it up with a 54.64 time to win the 100 fly.
Evan Fannin (Hayes, Va./Christchurch) finished the day with a win and two silvers, winning the 50 free with a personal best time of 22.57. He also finished second in the 100 back (56.95) and the 200 IM (2:09.02).
Ryan Deavers (Broadway, Va./Broadway) picked up one of each medal on the day, winning the 100 breast in 1:04.06, coming in second in the 200 breast in 2:21.56, and finishing third in the 200 IM in 2:15.89.
Aidan Campbell (Newport News, Va./Warwick) swam a season best time in both the 200 IM, winning the event in 2:01.36, and the 100 back, picking up third in 57.34.
Ben Sallade (Bristow, Va./Patriot) won his only podium finish on the day, winning the 200 back in 2:15.20. He also finished fourth in the 500 free and 100 back.
Carter Bingman (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) won his lone individual event today, finishing in a personal best 5:06.88 in the 500 free.
Sebastian Florez (Richmond, Va./JR Tucker) joins the long list of Yellow Jackets with a win and a personal best to their name, winning the 1000 free in 10:49.37.
Jacob Wills (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) and Liam McEneaney (Suffolk, Va./Home School) both had second-place finishes as Wills finished second in the 50 free, swimming a personal best 23.32 time, and the 100 fly. McEneaney finished second in the 100 breast in 1:04.90.
Matthew Romero (La Plata, Md./La Plata) finished third in both the 500 free and the 1000 free, which the latter was a personal best time of 11:06.51. Michael Senter (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) finished third in both the 100 breast and the 200 breast.
Morgan VerMeer (Lancaster, Va./Lancaster) finishd third in the 50 free (23.66). Kevin Williams (Richmond, Va./Thomas Jefferson) finished third in the 100 fly (1:00.65). Joey McDonnel (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) finished third in the 200 free (2:10.78).
RMC won both relay events, winning the 200 medley in 1:43.09 and the 200 free relay in 1:33.51.
RMC will participate in ODACs on February 8-11 in Greensboro, N.C.
