Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's basketball team hosted the first leg of the Wednesday night double header in Crenshaw Gym as Lynchburg came to town. R-MC ran away with the lead in the second half to win 56-30 over the Hornets.

How it Happened:
- The Yellow Jackets opened a lead in the opening minutes and didn't look back. Catherine Kagey (Roanoke, Va./Faith Christian) picked up six points in the opening frame to lead the YJs to a 15-9 lead after 10 minutes.
- The defense came up big in the second quarter as R-MC had five blocks, three from Kagey alone as the Hornets were held to single-digits for the second straight frame. The Yellow Jackets held onto a 29-18 lead at half.
- R-MC spread the love around to open the second half, as Kagey led with eight points in the quarter, as Morgan Miller (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) hit a pair of triples for six third quarter points and Cheridan Hatfield (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) added five points including a three of her own. The lead spread out to 52-24 as they headed to the final frame.
- It was a defensive battle for the final 10 minutes, as there were just 10 total points in the quarter. Emion Byers (Louisa County, Va./Louisa) and Olivia Murray (Moseley, Va./Manchester) were the pair of Yellow Jackets who had two points apiece, as R-MC won 56-30.
By the Numbers:
- R-MC's 45 rebounds on the night are good for their sixth game with 40+ rebounds this season.
- The Yellow Jackets' defense held strong, holding the Hornets to 27% shooting and just 7% from beyond the arc, forcing their opponent to just 30 points for the second time in the last three contests.
- Catherine Kagey filled the stat sheet yet again, with a stat line of 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and four blocks.
- Paige Anderson (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) dished out a team-high seven assists to couple with her three rebounds and two steals on the night.
- R-MC has now won 10 of their last 11 matchups and six in a row.
