How It Happened:
- The opening set saw Randolph-Macon take control early as Gracyn Draney's (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) block set the tone for the Yellow Jackets. R-MC used a 10-4 run deep in the set to pull away and take the 1-0 lead.
- The second stanza saw Eastern Mennonite turn the tide and take command early as the Royals found the first three points of the set. Randolph-Macon was able to answer the call, though, as the Yellow Jackets erased a one-point deficit into a four-point advantage late in the set.
- Randolph-Macon would make a statement in the third and final set, as the Yellow Jackets laid claim to 16 of the first 20 points in the set. EMU would not go quietly, as the Royals would draw to as close as two before an attack error clinched the match for Randolph-Macon.
Inside The Numbers:
- Grace Parker (Andover, N.J./Pope John XXIII) led the way for the Yellow Jackets with double-digit kills yet again, making her six for six in matches with double-digit kills to start the season. Leslie Curry (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) tallied 11 digs to lead the way on the defensive side for the second match in a row.
- Milly Mach (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) and Kaitlyn Kaplan (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Collegiate) both shined at the net as well, as the pair of setters recorded a combined 27 assists in just three sets.
