How It Happened
- Both teams battled in doubles play with the Yellow Jackets scoring a tiebreaker win at third doubles to take the advantage going to singles play. Mitchall Herman (Fr., Fairfax, Va. / Flint Hill) and Max Presley (Sr., Hilton Head, S.C. / Goochland) took that decision 8-7 with a 7-0 tiebreaking win over Colton Mullins and Jackson Scott.
- Before that Ryan Aud (Sr., Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) and Max Doyle (So., Alexandria, Va. / St. John's College) scored an 8-3 win over Cooper Brewen and Christian Kumar at second doubles.
- The Jackets nearly made it a sweep, but the top pairing of Max Hammock (So., Vienna, Va. / James Madison) and Braxton Fagan (Fr., Glen Allen, Va. / Deep Run) came up just short in an 8-5 decision against Levi Vigdorchik and Carter McCleary
- Aud made it a 2-0 day as he took down McCleary at second singles by scores of 6-2, 6-1. Fagan evened up his day with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Mullins at third singles.
- Doyle tallied a pair of 6-2 sets over Brewen for the win at fourth singles. Presley had a tough first set against Kumar that he won 6-4, but had an easier time in the second at 6-0 to score the win. Herman took the sixth singles match 6-1, 6-2 to cap the day.
