(ASHLAND, Va.) – The Randolph-Macon men's tennis team narrowly defeated Roanoke in a thrilling ODAC contest by a score of 5-4 on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets had to come from behind to defeat the Maroons and came down to the second-to-last singles match still playing to decide the team score.

How It Happened
- The Yellow Jackets had to come from behind after dropping two of the three doubles matches to start the day. Max Hammock (So., Vienna, Va. / James Madison) and Braxton Fagan (Fr., Glen Allen, Va. / Deep Run) were responsible for getting the Jackets on the board team-scoring wise with an 8-4 victory to start the day at second singles. Ryan Aud (Sr., Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) and Max Doyle (So., Alexandria, Va. / St. John's College) fought hard in an 8-4 defeat at first doubles, while Max Presley (Sr., Hilton Head, S.C. / Goochland) and Mitchall Herman (Fr., Fairfax, Va. / Flint Hills) fell 8-2 at thirds to complete the paired section.
- Doyle got the Jackets tied 2-2 in the team score with a win at fourth singles to start the solo play. He was able to defeat Thomas Hodges by identical 6-1 sets. Hammock followed shortly after to give the Jackets a 3-2 lead as he too won both sets 6-1.
- Aud provided some cushion to the Jackets' lead with a win at second singles. He defeated Hardt Lesko by scores of 6-1, 6-3.
- The Maroons got back on the board with a win at third singles as Dalton Capobianco defeated Fagan 6-2, 6-2 to make the team score 4-3. However Presley was able to secure the team win with his solo win at fifth singles by scores of 6-2, 6-3.
- Herman had an opportunity to make it 6-3, but fell in a third set tiebreaker by scores of 6-2, 2-6, 12-10.
