(BRIDGEWATER, Va.) – Randolph-Macon took the first of two consecutive games against Bridgewater in women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets and Eagles will get together once again in on Monday, this time in Ashland.

How It Happened

• Randolph-Macon led from start to finish thanks to a dominating first quarter where the defense shined. The Yellow Jackets raced out to a 14-3 lead in the first 10 minutes as the Eagles were limited to just one field goal on 14 attempts during that time.
• Although the Lemon and Black did lead the entire time, they still had to withstand a strong push by Bridgewater. At the end of the third quarter Bridgewater trailed by two at 40-38.
• R-MC was able to make adjustments between frames and started the fourth on fire. Baskets by Becca Anthony (Sr., Amelia, Va. / Amelia), Catherine Kagey (So., Roanoke, Va. / Faith Christian), Aimee DeBell (Sr., Studley, Va. / St. Gertrude), and Kagey again within the first 2:30 put the visitors back up 10.
• The Eagles again cut the deficit to five, but Haley Pasqualone (Jr., Purcellville, Va. / Loudoun Valley) and Paige Anderson (Fr., Sterling, Va. / Potomac Falls) answered with a pair of layups to keep Bridgewater at arm's length.

Inside The Numbers

• Kagey led a balanced Yellow Jackets offense with 11 points and was a rebound shy of another double-double.
• Cheridan Hatfield (Sr., Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) joined her in double figures with 10 points and was two boards shy of a double-double.
• The Eagles were led by Jaden Alsberry who recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Rosemary Pierson added 11 for BC.
• The three points the Yellow Jackets allowed in the first quarter is the fewest for any quarter against them all season.
• The Jackets had their best quarter from the field in the fourth where they made 6-of-11 for 54.5% while Bridgewater was limited to 3-of-15 for 20.0%.
• The glass was once again controlled by R-MC which outrebounded Bridgewater by 12 on a 52-40 count.
