ASHLAND, Va. -- The Randolph-Macon women's swimming team played host to Catholic on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets fell to the Cardinals 154-108.
Kelsey James (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) took two of R-MC's first-place finishes on the day, first in the 100 backstroke where she finished in 1:02.01, and secondly took first in the 200 backstroke in 2:13.25.
Emily Fritz also swam to the tune of two firsts. She finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.39. She also grabbed first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:30.19, which is the second fastest time in the event this season for the conference.
Katelyn Vieni (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) kept her strong season going with a win in the 400 IM, finishing in 4:49.92, which is good for the fastest mark in the event in the ODAC this season. She also was narrowly beat out by Fritz in the 200 breast, with a time of 1:10.97.
Caroline Russell (Lynchburg, Va./EC Glass) began her day with a second-place finish in the 1000 free in which she finished in 11:13.88. She also finished second in the 500 free.
Kelsey Craighead (Knoxville, Tenn./Knoxville Catholic) took a pair of second-place finishes and a third place finish in the day. Her second-place finishes came in the 200 free (2:05.89) and the 50 free (25.88). Her third-place finish came in the 100 free (58.53).
Tess Williams (Midlothian, Va./James River) took second in the 200 fly in 2:25.28.
Melina Christou (Smithfield, Va./Menchville) finished second in the 100 fly, finishing in 1:02.32.
R-MC also took second place in two relay events including the 200-medley relay in 1:55.25 with a group of James, Fritz, Williams, and Vieni. They also finished second in the 200 free relay with a group of Craighead, Russell, Vieni, and James finishing in 1:44.59.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 11 against Sweet Briar College in Farmville, Va. at 6:00 p.m.
