ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball team hosted their home opener as a part of the R-MC Tip-Off Classic in Crenshaw Gym. The Yellow Jackets fell at home to Mary Washington 75-62.

How it Happened:

• Randolph-Macon came out the gates with the first nine points of the contest, jumping out to an early lead and holding that lead through the first quarter.
• The Eagles fired back with a big second quarter, scoring 22 points to take the lead heading into halftime.
• Jane Elkins (Annandale, Va./Bishop Ireton) and company kept R-MC in it, staying within striking distance but the Eagles never wavered.
• R-MC outscored UMW in the fourth frame, but couldn't get it close enough to come back, as the Eagles kept the Yellow Jackets at bay to secure the win.

Inside the Numbers:

• R-MC shot 42.1% from the field and 83.3% from the charity stripe. They also outrebounded the Eagles 36-31.
• The Yellow Jackets' production off the bench was great with 28 points, led by Elkins with 16 points, and Emion Byers (Louisa County, Va./Louisa) with six points on just three shot attempts.
• Catherine Kagey (Roanoke, Va./Faith Christian) grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with six points.
• Paige Anderson (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) had her first double-digit scoring night of the year, notching 10 points on the night.
