How it Happened
- The first half was more evenly matched than the second, as the Maroons led the shot count by two at the half, and one of those shots was the lone goal of the first frame coming in the 22nd minute.
- The Yellow Jackets defense kept the deficit at one until the break, while R-MC also added some pressure of their own, being awarded a penalty kick but could not convert.
- The Maroons added two more goals in the second half to extend their lead and keep R-MC out of striking distance.
Inside the Numbers
- Goalkeeper Zach Fontenot (Palmyra, Va./Fluvanna County) came off the bench and made two second half saves in his third appearance of the season.
- Luis Geyne (Roanoke, Va./Salem) added three shots including one shot on goal to help the R-MC attack.
