The Basics:
Scores: No. 8 Berry 3, Randolph-Macon 0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-21)
Location/Venue: Atlanta, Ga./Woodruff Arena
Records: Randolph-Macon 18-6, No. 8 Berry 18-3
How It Happened:
- The opening stanza saw both teams trade points as it was 10-8 midway through, but it was Berry that used a handful of winners down the stretch to take the 1-0 lead.
- The second set was played back-and-forth with neither side creating any distance until after the 20th point was reached. Berry again found success late in the set with a quick four-point run to build a two-set lead.
- Randolph-Macon looked to extend the match in the third set, but the Vikings were able to answer the call. The Yellow Jackets found the most success in the third set, finding 21 points, as Grace Parker has five winners in the stanza but Berry stifled the R-MC effort.
Inside The Numbers :
- Grace Parker (Andover, N.J./Pope John XXIII) led the way for the Yellow Jackets with 15 kills and seven digs, while Leslie Curry (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) tallied 13 digs of her own to lead the way on the defensive side.
- Ashlyn Knott (Clarksville, Va./Bluestone) had a solid outing as well, recording seven kills out wide for the Yellow Jackets.
