Box Score (ST. DAVIDS, Pa.) – The Randolph-Macon men's soccer team fought hard in its weekend opening game, but fell by a score of 1-0 to Eastern on Friday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets will remain in the Philadelphia suburbs for tomorrow's game at Cabrini.
The Basics
Score: Randolph-Macon 0, Neumann 1
Venue: Olson Field
Records: Randolph-Macon 1-1, Eastern 3-0
How It Happened:
- Randolph-Macon was pressuring the Eagles back line with three shots early and another good opportunity on a free kick. Eastern was able to counter and pushed the ball up the right side where Emmanuel Hewitt was able to center to Evan Cope for a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper and a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute.
- While overall shots were even in the first half, the better opportunities went the way of the Yellow Jackets with four of them being on target.
- The Jackets kept up the pressure throughout the game. A late push saw RMC get off three shots in the final eight minutes. Kodi Tannor (So., Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) took the first of them as the Jackets attempted to take advantage of an Eastern offsides call, but it was saved by the Eagles keeper.
- Connor Lorenz (Sr., Bel Air, Md. / Bel Air) took the second a few minutes later, but it too was saved. Tannor had the final attempt which ended up going wide left of the pipes.
Inside The Numbers:
- Randolph-Macon outshot Eastern 15-12 overall in the game. Despite the goal, the Yellow Jackets defense kept themselves in the game by limiting the host's chances as they were only able to take three shots on goal the rest of the game.
- On the opposite end, RMC had seven shots on goal. Tannor and Yoni Ramirez (Fr., Richmond, Va. / Hermitage) each had two of them.
