Box Score (VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.) – Despite falling in the first set, Randolph-Macon came back to defeat Virginia Wesleyan in ODAC volleyball action on Wednesday night. It was the second-straight match that the Yellow Jackets recorded at least 50 kills.

How It Happened
- Virginia Wesleyan opened the match on fire with the first seven points. The Yellow Jackets climbed back to get within four at 13-9, but a 6-0 rally by the Marlins ended the Jackets comeback attempt.
- The second set was the exact opposite for R-MC as it dominated from start to finish and took control of the match as a result. The Jackets broke the game open with an 8-0 rally to take a 16-5 lead with kills by Gracyn Draney (So., Forest, Va. / Jefferson Forest) and Madison Warlick (Jr., Charlottesville, Va. / Albemarle High) in addition to an ace by Macguire Gubba (Jr., Grove City, Va.).
- After the Marlins scored the next three points, the Jackets evened up the match by scoring nine of the next 12 points.
- The third set was the closest of the day. Trailing by two, the Jackets reeled off six-straight points to set up the potential game point. Included in that run were kills by Draney, Syndey Koch (Jr., Jr., Raleigh, N.C.), and Jordan Davis-Allen (So., Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan). Adding to the potent offense were a pair of aces by Leslie Currie (Fr., Mechanicsville, Va. / Hanover).
- Virginia Wesleyan kept it close and score the next three, but another kill by Davis-Allen gave the Jackets the set.
- R-MC had another dominating showing in the fourth. Up 14-11 after a kill by Koch, the Jackets went on an 11-5 run capped by a Warlick kill to take the overall win.
Inside The Numbers
- Davis-Allen had a breakout match where she spiked down a career-best 13 kills. She did it at an incredible success rate too as she hit .522.
- Grace Parker (So., Andover, N.J.) led the match with 15 kills.
- Defensively Currie recorded 22 digs. Gubba and Warlick followed with 19 and 16, respectively. Gubba also set up the attack with 24 assists. She was aided by Emma Young (Sr., Highland Park, Ill. / Highland Park) who dished out 18 helpers.
