The Basics
Score: Randolph-Macon 1, Lynchburg 2
Venue: Nunnally Field.
Records: R-MC 4-2, 4-2 ODAC; Lynchburg 5-1-1, 5-1-1 ODAC
How It Happened
- Lynchburg struck early as Luke Mega scored in the 11th minute on an assist from Kenny Robles. From there it was a conservative game with few offensive opportunities by either team for the rest of the half. As a result the Hornets kept the 1-0 lead through halftime.
- The Hornets added a second score midway through the second as Brennan Lagana scored from a Josh Auger assist.
- A late rally was triggered by the Jackets as they finally got on the board late. Fittingly, it was a pair of seniors that set up the goal Ruben Niamien (Fredericksburg, Va. / Chancellor) scored his fourth of the season thanks to an assist from Olo Sembera (Lima, Peru / George Mason). It ended up being the last opportunity for the Jackets, however, as the Hornets prevented the hosts from taking another shot.
Inside The Numbers
- Lynchburg held a 14-7 advantage on shots. Of the 21 takes, eight were on goal. R-MC's Anthony Ivanov (So., North Brunswick, N.J. / Immaculata) made three saves while the two others belonged to the Hornets.
- Niamien has now scored four goals in the past four games.
