Box Score (ASHLAND, Va.) – As the cliché goes, 'better late than never' rang true for Randolph-Macon men's soccer as it defeated visiting Ferrum in come-from-behind fashion at Nunnally Field Thursday evening. The Jackets stunned the Panthers with two goals in the final eight minutes to pull out the victory.
The Basics
Score: Randolph-Macon 2, Ferrum 1
Location / Venue: Nunnally Field / Ashland, Va.
Records: Randolph-Macon 3-1, Ferrum 2-1
How It Happened
- The Panthers opened up the scoring in just the second minute as Alvaro Garaizar scored from just outside the box.
- It took 82 minutes until the Yellow Jackets could equalize. After a yellow card on Ferrum allowed the hosts to place it deep into the zone, Chazz Jones (Fr., Trenton, N.J. / Trenton Catholic) finally converted thanks to an assist by Penny Senior (Jr., Kingston, Jamaica / Meadowbrook).
- Senior wasn't finished as he scored the game winner after Colton Howell (Jr., Glen Allen, Va. / Glen Allen) served in a free kick from about 35 yards out in the 89th minute.
Inside The Numbers – Game One
- Anthony Ivanov (So., North Brunswick, N.J. / Immaculata) was nearly unstoppable again as he made seven saves on 10 shots faced.
- Senior has had a great start to the season with five points in the first four games. Tonight's game winner was the first time he found the back of the net, while his assist was the third of the season. He's tied for fourth in the ODAC in points.
- Howell is on a three-game point streak as he has assisted in each of the past three contests.
