(SALISBURY, Va.) – A fast start by Salisbury was too much for Randolph-Macon to overcome as it fell in its final game before the winter break on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

• A Paige Anderson (Fr., Sterling, Va. / Potomac Falls) bucket made the score 6-4 with 5:20 left in the first quarter in favor of the Sea Gulls, but unfortunate for the Yellow Jackets it was the final points of the frame. On the other end Salisbury was able to close out the first on a 12-0 run for an 18-4 lead.
• The Jackets attempted to get back into the game with an 11-3 run to get back within seven. Haley Pasqualone (Jr., Purcellville, Va. / Loudoun Valley) capped the run with a layup followed by an and-one free throw to make the score 26-19 midway through the second. However, Salisbury was able to respond and close the half with a 14-4 run of its own.
• Another push in the third saw the Jackets get back within seven once again after a Cheridan Hatfield (Sr., Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) 3-pointer made the score 43-36. It put them within striking distance, but the Sea Gulls answered with the next nine points and led by double-digits the rest of the way.

Inside The Numbers

• Hatfield and Becca Anthony (Sr., Amelia, Va. / Amelia) both led the Jackets with nine points each. Hatfield also led the team with five assists and three steals.
• Chatherine Kagey (So., Roanoke, Va. / Faith Christian) was limited to four points, but dominated on the boards with a game-high 10 reboudns.
• Salisbury was hot throughout the game and shot 50.9% from the field, its second-best shooting performance of the season.
• The Sea Gulls were led by Abby Wilkinson with 15 points off the bench.
