Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Cheridan Hatfield (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) tallied a career-high 27 points to help the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team knock off preseason-favorite Roanoke 82-76 in ODAC action on Tuesday evening.

How it Happened:
- The Maroons had the first basket of the game before Hatfield had six points in an 8-0 run as the Yellow Jackets led 8-2 six minutes into the contest. RC led late before a layup by Hatfield with 22 seconds remaining tied the game at 14-14 after one period.
- Junior Kylee Maiolo (Midlothian, Va./Powhatan) nailed a three-pointer to cap a 9-2 spurt as R-MC took a 23-16 advantage two minutes into the second quarter. Five straight points by the Maroons made it a two-point contest before consecutive buckets by junior Aimee DeBell (Studley, Va./Saint Gertrude) finished a 9-1 run as the Yellow Jackets went up 10 at 32-22 with 2:30 left. RC would cut into the deficit and trail by six at the break, 36-30. Hatfield had 11 points and DeBell added 10 for R-MC in the first half.
- The Maroons pulled within four early in the third period before a triple by sophomore Haley Pasqualone (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) and a free throw by DeBell pushed the lead back to 10 at 46-36 with 5:30 left in the quarter. A layup by senior Elise Knobloch (Glenville, Pa./Delone Catholic) gave the Yellow Jackets their largest lead of 12 at 57-45 with 1:25 remaining. RC used a 7-1 spurt to make it 58-52 after three.
- A three-pointer by senior Becca Arrington (Amelia, Va./Amelia Academy) gave R-MC a 61-52 advantage 10 seconds into the fourth period. The Maroons pulled within five before a three-point play by Arrington gave the home team a 72-63 lead with 6:30 remaining. RC put together an 11-4 run to make it a two-point game at 76-74 with three minutes left. A jumper by junior Peyton Humphreys (Lexington, Ky./Paul Laurence Dunbar) made it 78-74, but a bucket by RC again made it a two-point contest at 78-76 with just under two minutes remaining. After R-MC pulled down a pair of offensive rebounds, Hatfield hit two free throws with 23 seconds left to make it 80-76. Sophomore Devan Conrad (Parkville, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) grabbed a defensive board following an RC miss and sank two foul shots with 10 seconds left to make the final 82-76.
By The Numbers:
- R-MC had three score in double figures. Along with 27 by Hatfield, Arrington added 16 and DeBell scored 13.
- The Yellow Jackets went 8 of 15 from behind the arc for 53%. Six different R-MC players hit at least one trey.
- R-MC went 20 of 26 from the free throw line for 77%. Hatfield went 9 for 9 from the charity stripe.
- The Yellow Jackets had a 42-35 advantage on the boards. DeBell had nine rebounds, while Arrington and Conrad both pulled down seven.
- Hatfield had seven assists, while DeBell added four assists.
- Roanoke was picked first in the ODAC preseason poll, while R-MC was voted eighth.
