Men's Tennis Tops Marymount

ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon Men's Tennis topped a co-ed Marymount Saints team in its inaugural match in a non-conference meeting Friday afternoon. R-MC earned the win with tight matches in doubles from sophomore Ryan Aud (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) and freshman Jake Ferner (Wilmington, N.C. / Hoggard) as well as sweeps in singles from juniors Dani Recarte (Madrid, Spain / Wakefield School) and Alex Hein (Windermere, Fla. / Windermere Preparatory School).

The Basics

Score: Randolph-Macon 7, Marymount 2

Location/Venue: Ashland, Va./Banks Tennis Center

Records: Randolph-Macon (2-0), Marymount (0-1)

Doubles

  • In doubles play, seniors Jack Aprahamian (Richmond, Va. / Trinity) and Luke Pratson (Leonardtown, Md. / St. Mary's Ryken) earned a win by default at the #3 flight as Marymount was not able to provide players.
  • At the #2 Flight, Hein alongside fellow junior Erik Moulton (Yorktown, Va./York) were able to dispatch opponents Brecht Chamuleau and Ana Schneider-Jerez 8-4.
  • Ferner and Aud went toe-to-toe with Dorian Guiot and Neal Devkaran at #1 Doubles. The Yellow Jacket duo had the early lead before Guiot and Devkaran came storming back, forcing a tiebreaker. The Randolph-Macon duo was able to overcome the late run however, winning the tiebreak 7-3 and putting R-MC ahead 3-0 coming out of doubles play.

  • Recarte also earned a sweep, his second of the season. He defeated Roncs Etame-Ese in a 6-0, 6-0 decision at #5 Singles. The two sweeps secured R-MC's match victory.
