Men's Tennis Defeats Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va. – Randolph-Macon men's tennis came back from spring break on a tear, defeating Emory & Henry 9-0 and allowing just 12 total wins in 108 opportunities on the afternoon. The Yellow Jackets are now 6-3 on the season and 2-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, while E&H falls to 1-11 and 0-6 in the ODAC.

In doubles, #1 duo, senior Baxter Carter (Richmond, Va. / St. Christopher's School) and freshman Alex Hein (Windermere, Fla. / Windermere Preparatory School) ceded just one game to Grayson McCarty and Dalton Shipley, winning 8-1.

#2 pair, sophomore Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va. / Mills Godwin) and freshman Erik Moulton (Yorktown, Va. / York) swept their opponents, Liam Davidson and Cooper Garrett. The duo is now 6-1 on the season, all from the #2 doubles spot.

In #3 doubles, junior Jacob Haines  (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) and sophomore Jack Aprahamian (Richmond, Va. / Trinity) defeated Andrew McClung and Taylor Hines 8-1. It was the first pairing for the two.

In the singles competition, both Haines and Sarver swept their competitors, McCarty and Shipley with 6-0, 6-0 scores. Haines played #1 singles while Sarver played #2 singles. Haines is 4-3 on the season, all in the #1 slot while Sarver is now 5-4, including 5-2 from the #2 singles spot.

In #3 singles, Hein defeated Davidson 6-0, 6-1. Hein is 6-1 in #3 singles competition.

Carter had the closest matches of the afternoon, but overcame his opponent, Garrett, in #4 singles, winning 6-3, 6-4. Carter is now 5-4 on the season, including 5-2 in #4 singles.

Moulton defeated McClung 6-0, 6-1 in #5 singles action. Moulton is also 6-1 on the season, all from the #5 spot.

In #6 singles, Aprahamian scored his first singles win of the year, winning handedly, 6-1, 6-0.

Randolph-Macon will face Southern Virginia on Wednesday, April 11 at 4:00 PM.
