Men's Tennis Falls in ODAC Quarterfinals to H-SC

FARMVILLE, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's tennis team were defeated 5-0 by Hampden-Sydney in the ODAC quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon.

R-MC earned the #4 seed but had to travel to #5 Hampden-Sydney due to a tie breaker. In tournament play, the match ends after one team has reached five points.

In doubles, senior Pablo Bordas (Caracas, Venezuela/ Briar Woods) and freshman Jack Aprahamian (Richmond, Va./ Trinity) gave Levy Young and Grayson Burns a battle, losing 8-3.

R-MC trailed 3-0 after doubles, then lost at the #5 and #1 singles spots for Sydney to clinch the match.

Senior Stuart McCroskey (Newport News, Va./ Menchville) was winning his match at number three singles against Trent Singleton. McCroskey won his first set 6-2 and was up 4-1.

Aprahamian had another tight match at number six, losing the first set 7-6 with a 7-4 tiebreaker. At number two singles, senior Alex Curnow (Culpepper, Va./ Midlothian) lost the first set, but had a close second set against Michael Moody. Curnow and Moody were tied 4-4 at the end of the match.

The R-MC men's tennis team finishes the season 8-8 with a 6-4 ODAC record. Randolph-Macon will be hosting the men's and women's ODAC Championships this weekend at the Banks Tennis Center. For more information on the ODAC tournament, visit the tournament website.
