Men's Tennis Drops ODAC Match at Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The R-MC men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 match to Bridgewater on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va./ Mills Godwin) and sophomore Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va./ James River) both won their singles matches.

The Eagles swept the Yellow Jackets 3-0 in doubles. R-MC then won at flights two and six in singles.

Sarver won a thrilling three set match against Joe Dillenbeck at #2. Dillenbeck won the first set 6-2 before Sarver won set two 6-2 to force the tiebreaker. Sarver would win 10-7 to take the match 2-1.

Berry won his match against Emmett Johnson. He won in two sets with the score 6-1, 6-2.

Also forcing a close match, was senior Stuart McCroskey (Newport News, Va./ Menchville) at number four singles. He played a three set match against Josh Rodgers. McCroskey took the first set 7-5, but fell 6-2 in the second set and lost the match on the third set tiebreaker.

R-MC men's tennis (8-6, 6-3 ODAC) will conclude the regular season with a home ODAC match against rivals Hampden-Sydney. The match will take place at 3 p.m. at the Banks Tennis Center.
