Aprahamian Guides R-MC Men's Tennis into 2nd Place

ASHLAND, Va. – The R-MC men's tennis team moved into a tie for second place in the ODAC with a 7-2 victory over Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon. Freshman Jack Aprahamian (Richmond, Va./ Trinity) played his first match of the season at number three doubles and won 8-4.

The Yellow Jackets took a 2-1 advantage in doubles. Aprahamian and senior Pablo Bordas (Caracas, Venezuela/ Briar Woods) earned the win at number three while freshman Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va./ Mills Godwin) and junior Baxter Carter (Richmond, Va./ St. Christopher's) took care of business at number one doubles with a 8-5 victory.

R-MC would win singles from the number two through six spots. Sarver picked up his first victory of the season at number two, winning 6-3, 6-1. Also moving up was senior Alex Curnow (Culpeper, Va./ Midlothian), who won 6-2, 6-2 at number three.

Senior Stuart McCroskey (Newport News, Va./ Menchville) picked up the win at number four, winning 6-3, 6-3. Bordas earned his second victory of the day at number five, he beat Joe Holloway 6-2, 6-1.

Sophomore Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va./ James River) won at number six with ease, winning 6-0, 6-1.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday with a home ODAC match against Emory & Henry at 2 p.m.
