ROANOKE, Va. – The R-MC men's tennis team beat Roanoke 6-3 on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets improve to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the ODAC.

Winning the fifth point for the Yellow Jackets was senior Stuart McCroskey (Newport News, Va./ Menchville), who beat Neel Shah 6-2, 6-1 in singles.

The Yellow Jackets gainied a 2-1 advantage after doubles. Winning at number two doubles was senior Alex Curnow (Culpepper, Va./ Midlothian) and sophomore Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va./ James River) . The pair won a close match by a score of 8-6. Sophomore Jacob Haines (Springfield, Va./ West Springfield) and senior Pablo Bordas (Caracas, Venezuela/ Briar Woods) won at number three doubles, 8-3.

R-MC lost to the Maroons at #1 and #2 singles, but would win from the three through six flights. At number three was freshman Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va./ Mills Godwin), who beat Chris Teeple 6-3, 6-3.

At number five and six singles were Curnow and Bordas, who both picked up their second victories of the day over the Eagles.

R-MC will be back in action tomorrow with a home ODAC match against Shenandoah at 1 p.m. at the Banks Tennis Center.
