BUENA VISTA, Va. – Seniors Alex Curnow (Culpeper, Va./Midlothian) and Stuart McCroskey (Newport News, Va./Menchville) both posted win at doubles and at singles as the Randolph-Macon men's tennis team defeated Southern Virginia 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.
Curnow and McCroskey teamed together to win No. 2 Doubles 8-6. The Yellow Jackets (3-3) dropped No. 1 Doubles, but senior Pablo Bordas (Caracas, Venezuela/Briar Woods) and sophomore Jacob Haines (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) combined to win No. 3 Doubles 8-2, giving R-MC a 2-1 lead over the Knights (5-3) heading to singles.
Curnow won 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 Singles and McCroskey was victorious at No. 5 Singles 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. Freshman Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) took No. 3 Singles 6-4, 6-4 and sophomore Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va./James River) won No. 6 Singles 6-1, 6-0.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, April 1 with an ODAC match at Roanoke.
