EMORY, Va.—Sophomore Baxter Carter (Richmond, Va. / St. Christopher's) won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 Singles as the Randolph-Macon men's tennis team won 9-0 at Emory & Henry Sunday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets (8-2, 4-2 ODAC) held a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Carter teamed with senior John Adam (Vienna, Va. / James Madison) at No. 1 Doubles to win 8-5. Senior Tom Lewis (Charlottesville, Va. / Western Albemarle) paired with junior Alex Curnow (Culpeper, Va. / Midlothian) for an 8-1 victory at No. 2 Doubles. Freshman Jacob Haines (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) and junior Pablo Bordas (Caracas, Venezuela / Briar Woods) dominated with an 8-0 win at No. 3 Doubles.
Junior Stuart McCroskey (Newport News, Va. / Menchville) did not lose a game at No. 6 Singles, posting scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Adam dropped the first set 6-2 at No. 1 Singles before winning the second 7-5 and the tiebreaker by a score of 10-8. Lewis claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 Singles while Haines compiled a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 Singles. Curnow added a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 5 Singles.
Randolph-Macon returns to action at the Banks Tennis Center on Thursday, April 14 at 3:30 p.m. for an ODAC contest against Bridgewater.
