LEXINGTON, Va. – Senior John Adam (Vienna, Va./James Madison) and sophomore Baxter Carter (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) teamed to win at No. 1 Doubles as the Randolph-Macon men's tennis team dropped a 5-1 decision at No. 32 Washington and Lee in ODAC action Sunday morning to open the 2016 schedule.
Adam and Carter earned a 9-8 victory over Michael Holt and Perry Clements, recording a 7-3 win in the tie-breaker for the Yellow Jackets (0-1, 0-1 ODAC). The Generals (1-0, 1-0 ODAC) won at No. 2 and No. 3 Doubles to take a 2-1 lead into singles competition.
W&L registered wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 6 Singles to clinch the match victory. Senior Tom Lewis (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) won the first set at No. 3 Singles 6-4 in an unfinished match.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 27, with a 1 p.m. home match against St. Mary's at the Banks Tennis Center.
