Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. - The Randolph-Macon women's basketball team opened the 2016-17 season versus Marymount, falling 69-55. Junior Amber Lee (Rockville, Va./ Patrick Henry) and freshman Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./ Hailifax Academy) led the Yellow Jackets in points with 12 each.
On Williams' first collegiate start for the Yellow Jackets, she recorded a double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, five of which were offensive. Williams was 6-10 from the field on the night.
The Yellow Jackets (0-1) trailed to the Saints (1-0) at half time 36-26. Lee was perfect from the field in the first half with four field goals on four attempts.
R-MC was outscored by the Marymount in the first three quarters but were able to put together a strong fourth quarter as both teams scored 17.
The Yellow Jackets had 17 offensive rebounds in the game, 12 of which were from freshman as Williams had five, Michal Ross (Glen Allen, Va./ Glen Allen) and Charlotte Woods (Richmond, Va./ Trinity) each had three and Ariona Johnson (Walkersville, Md./ Walkersville) grabbed one.
Ross finished her first collegiate game with eight points and six total rebounds. Senior guard Taylor Intermill (Fairfax, Va./ Fairfax) led the team from three point range shooting two for two.
R-MC will host the R-MC Tip-Off Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Yellow Jackets will play host to Albright on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Greensboro on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
