Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – The R-MC men's soccer team finished the 2016 regular season with a 1-1 tie over Randolph on Saturday afternoon. With that tie, R-MC (9-4-3, 5-3-1 ODAC) locked up fourth place and will host the quarterfinal game on Wednesday, November 2nd versus Virginia Wesleyan.
Junior Liam Hogan (Haymarket, Va./ Battlefield) scored the tying goal with just six minutes remaining.
Randolph took the lead in the game just three minutes into the contest. Joe Uzdavinis scored with a header from a cross.
The game was an even affair, as R-MC led on shots 18-16, with both teams recording five shots on goal.
Hogan was tied for first on the team in shots and shots on goal. He would score the equalizer with a shot from outside the box in the 84th minute. Junior Jacob McHugh (Aberdeen, Md./ West Nottingham Academy) set up the goal.
Freshman Christian Torres (Stafford, Va./ C.D. Hylton) made a huge impact off the bench, recording four shots and two shots on goals.
In goal, sophomore Brian Breslin (Fairfax, Va./ W.T. Woodson) recorded two saves on the night. R-MC were able to make two team saves to keep the WildCats from increasing its lead.
R-MC finish the regular season fourth in the ODAC with 16 points. The 2016 season marked the first winning season for the Yellow Jackets since 2005.
