ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's tennis team rolled to its fifth straight victory with a 9-0 shutout of Lynchburg on Thursday afternoon in ODAC action at the Banks Tennis Center.
Senior Connor Hoerr (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) blanked his opponent at No. 2 Singles 6-0, 6-0. He teamed with junior John Adam (Vienna, Va./James Madison) to record an 8-2 win at No. 2 Doubles. Adam registered a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 Singles.
Seniors Ryan Byrd (Toano, Va./Warhill) and Ira Usry (Columbia, S.C./Hammond) won 8-0 at No. 1 Doubles. Byrd had a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 Singles, while Usry needed a tie-breaker to take No. 4 Singles.
Junior Tom Lewis (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) and sophomore Alex Curnow (Culpeper, Va./Midlothian) had an 8-2 win at No. 3 Doubles. Curnow won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 Singles, while Lewis was victorious by the same scores at No. 6 Singles.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, April 18 with a 2 p.m. ODAC road match at Roanoke.
