ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's tennis team won two of three doubles matches and all six singles matches in straight sets in overwhelming Emory & Henry 8-1 in ODAC action Wednesday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center.
The Yellow Jackets (7-4, 4-3 ODAC) have won four straight matches.
Seniors Ryan Byrd (Toano, Va./Warhill) and Ira Usry (Columbia, S.C./Hammond) teamed up to win 8-1 at No. 1 Doubles. Byrd rolled through No. 1 Singles 6-0, 6-0, while Usry posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles.
Senior Connor Hoerr (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) and junior John Adam (Vienna, Va./James Madison) took an 8-4 victory at No. 2 Doubles. Hoerr had a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 Singles, while Adam secured a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 Singles.
Junior Tom Lewis (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) registered a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 Singles, while sophomore Alex Curnow (Culpeper, Va./Midlothian) took No. 5 Singles 6-0, 6-3.
Randolph-Macon returns to the courts on Thursday, April 16 at 2 p.m. for a home ODAC match against Lynchburg at the Banks Tennis Center.
