LYNCHBURG, Va. – Sophomore Bryan Lutz (Fairfax, Va. / W. T. Woodson) scored off a corner kick from senior Logan McHugh (Aberdeen, Md. / West Nottingham Academy) in the 89th minute as the Randolph-Macon men's soccer team defeated Lynchburg 2-1 Wednesday evening.

The Hornets (6-2-2, 2-1-1 ODAC) found the back of the net in the 20th minute and held the lead through intermission.

Sophomore Peter Nelson (Charleston, WVa. / George Washington) scored in the 69th minute for the Yellow Jackets (6-5, 2-2 ODAC) to tie the score at 1-1.

The score remained tied for 20 minutes until Lutz converted on a corner kick from Logan McHugh in the 89th minute to claim the 2-1 victory for the Yellow Jackets.

Freshman Diego Tacaraya (Woodbridge, Va. / C.D. Hylton) led R-MC in shots with three, two of which were on goal. Freshman Seth Manis (Boydton, Va. / Blessed Sacrament Huguenot Academy) and Lutz each recorded two shots, one of which was on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Brian Breslin (Fairfax, Va. / W. T. Woodson) registered seven saves. Breslin recorded four saves in the first period and added three saves in the second period. The Yellow Jackets recorded a team save in the 67th minute.

The game was originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m. but due to transportation problems for R-MC, the game was delayed for one hour and 40 minutes.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on the road on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7 pm. for an ODAC contest against Guilford.
