LYNCHBURG, Va—Junior Katie Anderson (Beaverdam, VA / Patrick Henry) scored 19 points and senior Sarah Parsons (Glen Allen, VA /J.R. Tucker) tallied 18 points and three rebounds as the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team topped Lynchburg 75-56 in ODAC action Tuesday evening.

Freshman Kareema Conteh (Riverdale, MD /Parkdale) added 15 points for the Yellow Jackets (9-2, 2-1 ODAC).

The Hornets (6-5, 2-1 ODAC) jumped out to an early lead but a layup by Anderson at 18:46 tied the score at 2-2. The Yellow Jackets traded the lead with the Hornets in the first seven minutes of play when Parsons nailed a three-pointer for R-MC to assume control. Junior Hannah Livermon (Powhatan, VA / Powhatan) scored a trey with 6:39 remaining to expand the Yellow Jackets lead to 12 points. The Yellow Jackets held the Hornets to 12 points in the final seven minutes. The Yellow Jackets would take a 13-point advantage to halftime at 42-29.

The Hornets went on an 8-3 run to open the second half to cut R-MC's margin to eight points at 16:41. The Yellow Jackets fought back and a jumper by junior Lauren Vugteveen (Midlothian, VA / Amelia Academy) with 14:02 remaining stretched the Yellow Jacket advantage back to double-digits at 49-38. In the final 10 minutes, R-MC went on a 19-10 run to seal the 75-56 victory.

Livermon paced R-MC with five assists. The Yellow Jackets hit 20 of 27 from the free throw line with Conteh knocking down all six of her chances while the Hornets made 23 of 35.

The Yellow Jackets play one more game on the road on Saturday January 10, 2015 at 2:00pm at Roanoke College in an ODAC contest.
