Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Sophomore Sam Bowen (Collegeville, Pa./Haverford School) recorded a pair of assists as Randolph-Macon was edged 3-2 in overtime at Bridgewater in the ODAC opener for both teams.
After the Eagles (1-5, 1-0 ODAC) scored a quick goal in the fourth minute, the Yellow Jackets (1-4, 0-1 ODAC) answered in the eighth minute as freshman Tyler Slayton (Mechanicsville, Va.) finished on an assist by Bowen to knot the score at 1-1.
The deadlock lasted for more than 75 minutes. Bridgewater snapped the tie with a goal in the 83rd minute to take a 2-1 advantage.
Junior Andrew Oakes (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) answered with a goal for R-MC two minutes later to make it 2-2 after regulation. Bowen again assisted on the goal.
Bridgewater was able to score in the 97th minute to claim the ODAC victory.
R-MC held a 23-18 edge in shots, including 10-6 in shots on goal. Freshman Logan McHugh (Churchville, Md.) paced the Yellow Jackets with five shots, including four on goal.
Sophomore C.J. Montalbano (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) recorded three saves for R-MC.
Randolph-Macon continues ODAC play on Friday, Sept. 19, at home against Guilford at 4 p.m.
