Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Bailey Troia (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) recorded 13 assists and served 12 consecutive points in the deciding third game as Randolph-Macon defeated Division II Virginia State 3-0 in volleyball on Wednesday evening at Crenshaw Gymnasium.
The Yellow Jackets (5-4) took the opener 25-19 and edged the Trojans (2-1) 25-21 in Game 2 before posting a 25-15 victory in the final game.
VSU scored four straight points to take an 8-7 lead in the third game. R-MC tied it before Troia served 12 consecutive points as the Yellow Jackets took control at 20-8 on their way to the 25-15 decision.
Junior Riley Martin (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) led all players with 15 assists. She also recorded eight digs. Junior Katie Rossberg (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) paced the Yellow Jackets with 10 kills and had 23 total attacks as well as 14 digs. Junior Courtney Lowers (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) had 34 total attacks, nine kills and 19 digs.
Randolph-Macon heads to Atlanta this weekend to participate in Emory's Tournament, facing Wisconsin-Whitewater and Birmingham Southern on Saturday before meeting Transylvania and host Emory on Sunday.
