SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Junior Courtney Lowers (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) registered 24 kills as Randolph-Macon swept Hardin-Simmons 3-0 in the first round of the Trinity National Invitational.

The Yellow Jackets (19-8) took the opener 25-22 before posting 25-20 decisions in the final two games over the Cowgirls (9-14).

Lowers had 39 total attacks and just three attack errors for a kill percentage of .538. She also had seven digs.

Junior Katie Rossberg (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) added 11 kills and 40 total attacks.

Junior Riley Martin (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) paced the Yellow Jackets with 17 assists and contributed 11 digs. Freshman Erin Quinn (Morrisville, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) had 16 assists and nine digs.

Freshman Samantha Sallade (Newport News, Va./Peninsula Catholic) led R-MC with 14 digs.

The Yellow Jackets face a pair of nationally-ranked opponents on Saturday: host Trinity and Wittenberg.
