Box Score ASHLAND, Va.—R-MC went the distance for a second time
Saturday in Crenshaw Gymnasium against Hardin Simmons who topped
the Jackets 3-2.
41 tie scores and 20 lead changes made for another
back-and-forth volleyball match that went five sets (25-21, 20-25,
25-23, 27-29, 11-15) in favor of the Cowgirls (4-4). Total teams
blocks were close as well 5 blocks to 5.5 blocks respectively and
nearly identical hitting percentages (.216—HSU,
.209—R-MC).
Katie
Rossberg (Crozet, VA) led the team for a second time with 14
kills with 37 attacks on just 1 error. Fellow sophomore Courtney
Lowers (Suffolk, VA) had 11 kills on 31 attacks and
middle-hitter Hillary
Jessee (Warm Springs, VA) added 10 kills from 25 attacks.
Crozet native Riley Martin
had 23 assists alongside 21 assists from junior Bailey Troia
(Virginia Beach, VA). Senior Tori Puryear (Madison, VA) finished
the match with 4 blocks.
Randolph-Macon finishes their inaugural volleyball invitational
2-2. The Yellow Jackets continue match-play Sunday 9/8 at 12:00
noon against Trinity University (TX) in Crenshaw Gymnasium.
