NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Randolph-Macon played Christopher Newport to a scoreless tie in the first half before falling 2-0 in the season opener for both schools. 

Despite being outshot 10-1 in the first 45 minutes, the Yellow Jackets were even at halftime. The Captains posted their first goal five minutes into the second half and added another 18 minutes later for a 2-0 advantage.

Freshman goalkeeper Lee Loudermilk (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) had six saves in 50 minutes of action. Senior Cris Lowe (Rome, Ga./Darlington Academy) came off the bench to record three saves. 

Senior forward Bradley Moore (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) had a pair of shots for R-MC, including one shot on goal.

The Jackets will remain in Newport News to face Wesley on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 5 p.m.
