LYNCHBURG, VA – Randolph Macon Men's Tennis swept singles play on the way to an 8-1 win over Lynchburg College Tuesday afternoon. The victory marks the Yellow Jackets' first 10 win season since 1993 as they are now 10-12 overall and 4-6 in ODAC play.
R-MC scored two victories in doubles action with Connor Hoerr and Michael Baxter winning at the No.1 position 8-5. John Adam and Ira Usry knocked off the Hornets' No. 2 doubles players 8-5.
The Yellow Jackets had a clean, 6-0 sweep of Lynchburg in singles action.
Hoerr knocked off Matt Karvelas in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in the matchup of top singles players.
Baxter rallied for a three set victory in No. 2 singles 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) over Derek Kegerreis.
At the No.3 singles position, Adam scored a 6-0, 6-1 victory while his doubles partner Usry recorded a 6-4, 6-1 win at No.4.
Tom Lewis and Dylan Scott rounded out Randolph-Macon's sweep of Lynchburg with 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1 wins respectively.
The Yellow Jackets will now wait for their pairing in the 2013 ODAC Men's Tennis Tournament which will mark their second consecutive appearance.
