Ashland, VA – The Randolph-Macon College men's tennis team snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 5-4 non-conference win over York (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets improve to 4-9 overall while the Spartans fall to 10-6.
Randolph-Macon took early control of the match as they captured the first and second doubles matches. The R-MC first doubles tandem of Michael Baxter and Connor Hoerr combined to post an 8-5 win. John Adam and Tom Lewis won 9-8 (10-7) in the second doubles match.
York (Pa.) earned wins at first, fourth and sixth singles but Randolph-Macon captured three singles matches to secure the win. Baxter earned a 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 win in the second singles contest.
John Adam was a double-winner for R-MC as he was a 6-0, 6-0 winner in the third singles contest. Jody Cox closed out the match with a victory at the number five singles spot by a score of 6-2, 6-4.
The Yellow Jackets return to action Tuesday, April 2nd when they host Southern Virginia. The match is slated for a 4:00 p.m. start.
