Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Andrew Schaefer (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) nailed his first goal of the season in the 11th minute to spark Randolph-Macon to a 3-0 ODAC men's soccer victory over Shenandoah.
Schaefer finished in front of the net on the left side on a pass from freshman Sam Bowen (Collegeville, Pa./The Haverford School) to give the Yellow Jackets (5-7-3, 2-4-3 ODAC) the early lead. The match remained 1-0 until the 51st minute, when senior Brock Barbeau (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) tallied his team-leading fifth goal on an assist by sophomore Mitchell Surkamp (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) to give R-MC a 2-0 advantage. Senior Will Topping (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) finished the scoring in the 85th minute on a pass from senior Bradley Moore (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) to make the final 3-0.
The Yellow Jackets held a 26-9 advantage on shots against the Hornets (0-16, 0-9 ODAC), including 13-0 for shots on goal. Bowen led the team with six shots (three on goal), while Barbeau added five shots (four on goal).
The R-MC defense recorded its fourth shutout of the season.
The Yellow Jackets travel to Eastern Mennonite on Saturday, Oct. 26, for a 7 p.m. ODAC contest.
